Raising the nutritional bar for 2016

It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year already but here we are at the beginning of 2016, just twelve months after the influential launch of the food information regulations (FIR). These, along with other innovations, helped make 2015 an exciting year for Anglia Crown. We launched our vegetarian prepared meal range, entered a new market: care home catering, and supported the Cost Sector Catering awards for the first time with the sponsorship of their Care Award.

Our innovative Crown Advantage meal range was honoured with three award nominations including the Cost Sector Catering innovation award, BFFF product of the year and BFFF main meal category for which we went on to win GOLD in the latter. In September we were awarded the contract to supply our award winning Crown Advantage and our Crown Choice range into world renowned Papworth hospital, the home of the first successful heart transplant in the UK and one of the largest specialist cardiothoracic (heart and lung) hospitals in Europe, and lastly we are proud to continue partnering over 100 hospital sites nationwide.

Looking ahead, 2016 is set to be just as significant. In April our development team will launch an updated dessert range at the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) leadership and development forum in Liverpool. Whilst in September our commercial and operational team will announce a major factory update which will enable our range of chilled and frozen prepared meals to reach an extended audience, but more on that later.

Lastly, I am proud to announce that this year I will be working on a project to develop a bespoke client nutritional portal. I look forward to being part of the team to deliver a brand new technology solution for nutrition. With the FIR in full swing it has surely never been more needed.
