Crown Advantage wins Best New Main Course Award at the BFFF

Last Thursday, Anglia Crown stormed the BFFF Awards this year by winning the Best New Main Course Award with their Crown Advantage Beef Lasagne with Torus Pac technology and also for listing as a finalist for the Catering Product of the Year Award.

The Craft Guild of Chefs who judged the awards loved the concept and the quality of product that it delivers, one Chef said about the Beef Lasagne, “Great portion size – all components cooked well with great colour – for people in hospitals or on their own – excellent.” Whilst another agreed and said, “A very good concept. Could meet lots of needs. Has huge potential.”

The Crown Advantage range has 39 main dish choices overall including the gold award winning Beef Lasagne. The range enables caterers to provide a nutritionally balanced menu, whilst offering exact portion sizes, helping to reduce waste. The range was developed with Toruspac and directly in line with patient feedback and through research and development within Anglia Crown.

The meals come in two sizes, a standard option and one for a smaller appetite, resulting in patients and residents receiving a meal that is suitable for their individual needs. As catering budgets have continued to be squeezed, Anglia Crown have ensured that the Crown Advantage prepared meal concept is an ideal solution for hospitals and care homes that have limited space, equipment, resources and staff.

The Smartpack technology allows precision presentation every time with its four steps from pack to plate through a removable base. Exactly as you see in the pack, each and every time.In addition to the removable base, the packaging at Anglia Crown uses a steam valve system to help reduce dehydration and shrinkage.

With the range being the first prepared meal for the healthcare market with a removable base, this innovative product has come so far and Anglia Crown are delighted with the win for range.
